I have an MA in Clinical and Community Psychology from UNC Charlotte, and over 30 years of experience in the field of developmental disabilities, with specific expertise in Autism Spectrum Disorders. This experience covers a wide range of I/DD and co-occurring mental health diagnoses, behaviors, and environments.
I have a rich and varied background in the developmental disabilities world, getting my career start with UNC’s TEACCH Autism program where I worked as a Psychoeducational Therapist and later as a consulting psychologist for the agency. I subsequently worked for several years with a local MCO, with experience as a habilitation specialist, a program manager, staff psychologist, and as a Clinical Coordinator for Medicaid waiver services they provided. Contract work I provided for several years with a school system in my community included ASD evaluations, teacher training, and behavior consultations. In addition to my private practice in Concord, I continue to enjoy doing contract work with MCO’s across the state to provide behavior support for recipients of Innovations Waiver services.
I am passionate about supporting my clients in all areas of functioning to ensure that they are able to experience the kind of lives they want to live, always mindful of balancing safety with the dignity of risk.
